Minutes of Nov. 11, 2003 - MCA Executive
Board Meeting
Meeting was called to order at 7:05PM at President Rodero's home. Attendees:
President Rodero, Treasurer Al Obuchowski, Membership Chair Colleen Cioppi,
Webmaster Paul Armstrong, Directory Editor Roy Wagner, Neighborhood Watch
Co-Chair Catie Morales, Beautification Chair Sharon Surratt, Secretary Olga Drew
and guest, Sarah Mayhew.
Minutes were approved as submitted. Treasurer's Report was approved as
submitted.
Ways to increase revenue through newspaper or other advertising were discussed
while the 2004 Budget was reviewed. It was moved and seconded and approved to
form a committee to create a plan/proposal for
advertising rates for 2004 and 2005 directory, newspaper or other venues.
Membership Chair Cioppi reported that after a successful membership drive this
year there is approximately a community membership of 78% of our 577 houses.
The directory will be printed and published sometime in December with
distribution shortly afterwards.
Holiday Event plans were discussed. Volunteers are being contacted to form the
Holiday Decorations Judging Committee. It was moved and seconded and approved
to recognize the new Group Award with a sign and mention in the newsletter and
on the web site. The other steps /events were reviewed as to timing and
responsible party.
The Fall Clean-Up is scheduled for
Nov. 22. Sarah Mayhew and President Rodero will coordinate the purchasing of
any supplies and scheduling of volunteers before and on that date.
Parks, Woods & Streams: The improvement of the pathways between Bonnie Brae,
Fairfax Club Estates, Keys Crossing, and Middleridge as well as Woodglen Lake
were explained by Sarah Mayhew. VP Russell Klosk & Mrs. Mayhew have been
dealing with Winnie Shapiro of Supervisor Sharon Bulova's office.
Halloween Event: Pres Rodero has contacted the Police and VDOT with regard to
the problems that occurred and slow or non response times with regard to permits
and their assistance. Heather Jones and Mrs. Jones were complimented on their
efforts. The incorrect actions of some politicians who did not follow Heather's
directions were discussed. As was the letter from one of our community's
residents deploring that politician's actions at our children's' event.
In response to requests for assistance on catching and fixing the speeding
problems in our community, VDOT says to get the license plate numbers and any
other information and notify the police.
Neighborhood Watch chair Morales reported that the committee has received
special supplies, including and amber light for use on the top of the car being
used for Neighborhood Watch patrol duty.
Entrances were decorated
patriotically for Veterans Day and will be decorated appropriately for the
coming holidays.
There will be no Board Meeting in December. Meeting was adjourned at 10:05PM.
