November 2002
The Middleridge Civic Association Executive Board meeting was called to
order by President Jack Garber at 7:35pm on the 12th of November 2002 at
Vice President Carole Rodero's home. Attending were President Garber,
VP Rodero, Treasurer Al Obuchowski, Webmaster Paul Armstrong, Membership
Chair Colleen Cioppi, Beautification Chair Sharon Surratt, Secretary
Olga Drew and Sheila Champion the new Holiday Decorations Chair.
To accommodate the schedule of our guest speaker, Sheila Champion, the
new Chair of the Holiday Decorations Committee, the rules were suspended
so that she might speak first.
The rules and details of judging and the awards to be given for the four
winners of the Annual Holiday Decorations Event in Middleridge were
discussed. The Four categories were defined. The budget for the basket
awards was set up to $175, even split among the four baskets. Who would
be picked as judges for the event was discussed. It was suggested that
since the winners from the previous year cannot win two years in a row,
they would be asked to be the judges.
Old Business:
The General Membership Meeting was discussed.
The Minutes were approved as submitted.
The Treasurer's Report was approved as submitted. Treasurer Obuchowski
also included the totals from the very successful National Nite Out
Event.
The membership drive report indicated approximately 300 households have
signed up. The process of getting the information for joining still
seems to have a bug or two. How we can improve the system was
discussed. In some cases apparently the Block Captains are not
following up as was planned.
The entrance decorations for the holidays budget was set at up to $200
to be split among the four entrances. VP Rodero and Chair Surratt will
be in charge of setting up the displays and taking them down, possibly
with the helps of any students needing additional service hours. The
time period for the displays will be from 7 December to 6 January.
The Welcome Baskets were discussed since the Women's Club has declined
to do them anymore. Who is to receive the baskets and what should go
into them was discussed.
AAA Trash. The agreement expires in January which Pres Garber and VP
Rodero had negotiated for our community. What course of action we will
follow was discussed. Should we ask other communities to join in with
us. Which communities would be included. Susan Gleba of AAA will be
contacted.
Community Service points can be earned by students doing community
related projects. Contact VP Rodero for more information.
Neighborhood Watch was discussed.
Cox tearing up the lawns and installing new lines was discussed.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:12 PM.
