Learn how to reduce your carbon footprint, with examples drawn from the experience of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NVRPA). In 2005 NVRPA launched a system wide energy conservation effort, and in 2007 the Regional Park Authority following the lead of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and became the first park agency in the nation to sign on to the Cool Counties initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With effort ranging from improved weather-stripping and insulation, to electric vehicles, geothermal heat pumps, solar power generation, and LEED building design, NVRPA’s experience in energy conservation has interesting lessons for everyone trying to reduce their carbon footprint. Cost: $10.00 for the Buffet **, which includes tax and tip. Note: You may bring flyers about your organization's events and activities. There will be a time for announcements. ** We will have Brion’s Grill to ourselves (it doesn’t open to the public until later). The buffet will include scrambled eggs, potato fries, bacon, sausage, French toast, fruit, cereal, juice and coffee. We will be comfortable with plenty of room and there is a large projection screen for showing presentations. Tax and tip are included in the $10 cost. Paying in cash is preferred, but credit cards are ok too. (If anyone wants to come and just have coffee, please email or call the conservation district office 703-324-1460)
