A couple of follow-up notes might help improve some
homes. The use of floodlights to brighten homes and
decorations and make things more visible will
enhance the overall scene. Also, several homes were
initially considered as winners, but because they
were not members of the MCA, the awards could not
made to them. Unique ideas in decorating, if well
lighted, had positive impact on the judges.
Finally, items like real candles, long ribbons, and
ornaments hanging outside had positive impacts on
the judges.
I’d like to thank Diane Bente and Peggy Deihr for
their help in judging this year’s contest. I’d also
like to thank Sandy Obuchowski for driving us around
the neighborhood and offering her advice in many
instances. Finally, let me encourage this year’s
winners to consider judging next year; it was great
fun!! We live in a beautiful community and this
